I didn’t come to counselling through one particular path. My journey has moved through many different roles, experiences and opportunities working alongside people.
As part of my counselling journey, I’ve supported adolescents in a large London secondary school and volunteered with charities focusing on African-Caribbean mental health, men’s mental health, and women’s mental well-being.
Before counselling, I spent many years working within Fostering & Adoption teams and, for over ten years, was the administrative lead in a very busy primary school office.
It might seem like a really mixed collection of roles, but there’s something that connects all of them for me … people.
I’ve had the privilege of meeting people from many different backgrounds and at very different points in their lives. Those experiences have taught me a lot about people, relationships and some of the things life can throw at us.
Those roles have also reinforced something I really believe in – how important it is to have somewhere you can turn up as yourself. Somewhere you don’t have to pretend you’re fine or that you have all the answers or worry about being judged.
A warm, welcoming place where you can talk openly, feel heard and understood and take some time to work things through at your own pace. That’s the kind of space I want to offer.
I feel very privileged to be able to do this work and if you decide to get in touch, I’d be happy to walk alongside you for a while.
